A Hamptons Building Partnership 25 Years in the Making.

Home Enterprises was not started from scratch. It was formalized. Michael Streit had spent over two decades developing property on the East End. Craig Watson had been building custom homes and estate renovations in this market for even longer. They had worked together on project after project over the years, and at some point formalizing what already existed was simply the logical next step.

The company was built around a combination that is genuinely uncommon in this market: a developer with deep knowledge of what the East End demands and a builder with 55 years of hands-on construction experience behind him. Together they cover every stage of a project. From the first site walk to the final delivery, nothing falls between the cracks because there is no handoff. The same two people who start a project see it through to the end.

Their reputation has been built entirely through the work. Not advertising. Not volume. Clients refer people they trust because their own experience was exactly what they were told it would be. That is the model Home Enterprises was built on, and it is the standard every project is held to.

How We Work.

We Take on Less So We Can Do More.

Home Enterprises is not built for volume. We take on fewer projects than we could because every job deserves the full attention of the team running it. A client working with us gets Michael and Craig, not a project manager who reports to someone who reports to them.

We Tell You the Truth.

About timelines. About budgets. About what your project actually requires before you commit to it. Straight talk is not a selling point for us. It is the floor. Every client relationship we have maintained over the years, and we have maintained most of them, is built on that.

The People Around Us Have Been Here a Long Time.

Craig’s construction crew has been with him for over 25 years. His office has been run by the same person for 20. That is not standard in this industry. It is the result of a deliberate approach to how we build a team and what we expect from one. The people who work alongside us are not interchangeable. They are experienced, accountable, and invested in the outcome of every project they touch.

The Work Speaks for Itself.

Home Enterprises has never run an advertisement. Every project we have taken on has come through a referral. That is a statement about the quality of the work and the experience of working with us. We intend to keep it that way.

Our Team

Michael Streit

Principal, Development & Owner’s Representation

Michael Streit has been developing and building real estate on the East End for over 25 years. In that time he has developed an understanding of this market that goes beyond square footage and sale prices. He knows which locations hold value and why, what buyers at the top of this market are looking for before they can articulate it, and how to build a product that performs at the highest level when it comes to market.

He leads the spec home program at Home Enterprises, overseeing everything from site acquisition and design through construction and sale. His track record spans ground-up spec developments across the Hamptons and estate properties in some of the most sought-after locations on the East End. He has an instinct for matching a design to a piece of land that comes only from decades of close attention to how this market works.

Michael also works with private clients as an owner’s representative. For homeowners who want to build or renovate but need an experienced advocate managing the process on their behalf, he steps in as a full-time presence on the project. He coordinates every discipline, shows up on site daily, and acts as a fiduciary for the owner’s interests from the first planning meeting through final delivery. For clients who are not local, or who simply do not have the bandwidth to oversee a complex project, that level of dedicated representation changes the entire experience of building.

Craig Watson

Principal, Construction

Craig Watson has been building on the East End for 55 years. He learned the trade alongside his father and spent his career doing the kind of work that builds a reputation in a market like this one: custom estate construction, complex renovations, and historically sensitive restorations that required replicating original materials and methods with a level of precision few builders can match.

He is the kind of builder who walks a project and knows immediately what it will require. Not from reading a report. From five decades of being on the job site, understanding what a structure is telling him, and knowing how to respond. Until recently, Craig was on the tools himself. The standards he held himself to are the same ones he passed on to the team he built around him over the past 25 years.

The crew Craig has assembled is among the most experienced working in this market. They were not hired from a job listing. They were developed, trained directly by Craig, to do the work the way he taught them to do it. That consistency shows up in every project. It is also why the team has stayed together as long as it has.

Craig’s operation is supported by Averie, who has run his office for over 20 years. Between them, the administrative and operational side of every project is handled with the same rigor brought to the construction itself. Contracts, scheduling, billing, subcontractor coordination: everything runs the way it should, without the client having to chase it.

“Home Enterprises did a wonderful job on our new house in East Hampton. Their highly-experienced staff were always available to assist us whenever we asked for their help. The final product they delivered to us was fabulous. Their workmanship is the highest quality. We think they are the best general contractors on Long Island.”
